Captain Information

Captain Access to Administrative Site:

As Captain of your team you will have access to the Administration site.

You will be able to print blank scorecards, enter scores following a match, etc.

Your access code is currently set as YOUR EMAIL and the Password is ‘tennis’.

Your password can be changed to a more familiar password to you by following the

1. Go to www.PalmTennis.com and click on “Leagues” and then

“Scores/Schedules” UNDER “Singles League”.

2. Click on the Login button at the top right.Enter your email and the password ‘tennis’.

3. Click on the tab called “My Profile” and then “Edit” and at the bottom of your profile page you may change your password.

4. Your password is immediately changed within the system.

We request our Home Team players to call their opponents a few days in advance of the match to welcome them and make sure they have directions to your courts.

It is the responsibility of the HOME TEAM Captain to enter the scores after each home match.

1. Go to www.palmtennis.com and click on “Leagues” and then ‘‘Scores/Schedules”

UNDER “Singles League”

2. Click on the league that you are playing ex: “SPB Ladies Day”

3. LOGIN (top right) using your email and the password “tennis”.Do not click on the Administrator Box.

4. Click on your team name.

5. Click on the ‘Options” button to the left of the match that you entering scores for and then on “Enter Scores”

6. Enter the points earned for each player in the Yellow Boxes at the top of the scorecard.

We will be using the K-SWISS scoring system:

•The winner of each court receives 14 points for a 2-set win and 12 points for a 3-set win.

The loser receives a point for each game won in their two highest scoring sets up to a maximum of 8 points for

each match played. Example #1 - match score 6-4, 6-2, winner = 14 pts. & loser = 6 pts. Example #2 -

match score 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, winner = 12 pts. & loser = 8 pts

7. Enter the status of the match, usually “completed”.

8. Default matches must be recorded as 6-0 and the defaulted player should be listed as “default”.

9. Click in the circle to indicate winning player for the match.

10. Use the pull down roster to enter the player’s name.

11. Enter the scores of the match.

12. For tie-breakers, enter 1-0.

13. The computer will not accept an incomplete match.If your match was interrupted, you cannot enter the scores until the final match has been

14. Click on the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page. Your Scores will be instantaneously sent to the website.

15. It the responsibility of AWAY TEAM Captain to verify the scores submitted by the HOME TEAM Captain.

To Produce Scorecards:

1. Go to www.palmtennis.com and click on “Leagues” and then

2. LOGIN to the Administrative site.

3. Click on your division

4. Click on your team name

5. Find the match you want a scorecard for and click on the printer icon in “Scores/Schedules” UNDER “Singles League”the column labeled Blank Scorecard.

SINGLES LEAGUE

The Goal:

• To provide a competitive singles league for both men and women in South Florida.

Night League Levels:

• In each region, 4 levels will be offered for both men and women:
  • 4.5/over
  • 4.0
  • 3.5
  • 3.0/under

Day League Levels:

• In each region, 3 levels will be offered for both men and women:
  • 4.0/over
  • 3.5
  • 3.0/under
  • *the men's day league is for gentlmen 55 years or older. Clay courts only.

Play Days and Start Times:

• Ladies Singles:
  1. Monday evenings at 7 p.m.
  2. Thursday mornings at 9:30, 10, 10:30 or 11 a.m. depending on club requirements
• Men’s Singles:
  1. Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m.
  2. Monday mornings at 9:30, 10, 10:30 or 11 a.m. depending on club requirements

The Format:

• Matches should start promptly. If a player is more than 15 minutes late, the player must forfeit the match.
• All matches should be played on their scheduled day of play, but sometimes there are circumstances that need to be considered – business travel, injuries etc. The player that is able to play on a scheduled day is by no means obliged to reschedule and can have the match defaulted in his/her favor. If players agree to reschedule and for some reason the match does not take place, a win by default will be given to the person that was available on the originally scheduled date. If there is an agreement to reschedule the match, then it must be completed within 7 days of the scheduled date.
• All players are required to provide one court (lit for evening play) and balls when they are the home team. Each player is responsible for their own beverage.
• All matches will consist of 2 of 3 sets with a 12 point tiebreaker (first to 7 points by 2) in any set at 6-6. A third set WILL be played unless both players agree to play a 10 point tie-breaker instead.
• Players must be at least 18 years of age.
• In the event that a player can no longer continue to play matches, he or she may find a permanent replacement to complete the season. All scores earned by the departing player will be retained.

Scoring:

• Scores will be recorded on-line at www.palmtennis.com and standings will reflect each player’s win/loss record.

Inclement Weather:

• In the event of rain, players should make arrangements to complete the match within two weeks.
• Once a day for rescheduling has been set, it cannot be changed (unless it rains). The party that is unable to play on that day will retire that line.
• If the temperature is below 45 degrees or above 95 degrees at the court at match time and both Captains agree, the match may be played. Once a match has begun it must be completed except in the event of rain.

Additional Information:

• Palm Tennis rules govern play. In cases not specifically covered by these rules, USTA Rules govern play.
• Palm Tennis reserves the right to make any rule modifications and/or other changes during the course of the league whenever it deems such action necessary and proper.
• Palm Tennis reserves the right to ban any player, coach, spectator, or participant from further participation for an indefinite time period due to any misconduct and/or unsportsmanlike conduct.

• Players must be at least 18 years of age.
• Players should confirm matches at least two days prior.

Awards:

• Winners of each division/flight will be recognized.

A reconciled bye is used sometimes when there are an odd number of players in a Division and a full or double rotation cannot be achieved in the timeframe.

That leaves some players with an uneven number of byes.

The scores are reconciled at the end of the season, by adding points to the totals of the players that had more byes as follows:

The total number of points that the player earned during the season, divided by the number of matches played.
